Let's talk caffeine.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I love me a good #coffeegram. It may not be the most original photo to take, but there's a serious addiction behind it (for the coffee, not the coffee photography). I find it so interesting that the Insta coffee craze has grown to the level that it has. Lattes have existed for centuries, why do we suddenly find them so important that we need pics or it didn't happen?
All I can say is that I'm both impressed and honestly glad about the whole coffee bean obsession. Until a barista friend made me a Nutella latte from organic, fair trade specialty coffee (not meaning to sound pretentious or hipster), I honestly thought 7-Eleven coffee was great. (Did I really just say that? Yep.)
Since I discovered that coffee actually tastes different depending on the beans, how it's roasted, and even how the espresso shots are pulled, I've made it a personal mission of mine to try out different places wherever I go. I used to order a caramel frapp and call it a day, but now that I've learned to appreciate the taste of coffee a little more, I find that I like my coffee a little sweet and with a decent amount of milk.
Today I met with a friend and tried out Cafecito Orgánico at The Lab in Costa Mesa. I've always enjoyed the vibe in that area and when I saw this place, I knew I wanted to try out their Vanilla Latte. I'm no coffee connoisseur by any means, but I will say that the latte I was served had actual vanilla bean in it rather than just syrup (not something I see too often) and I thought that made it pretty special. It wasn't as sweet as I would've enjoyed, but that may be just personal preference. The latte art also didn't compare to the insanity I've seen at Urth Caffé in Los Angeles, but still pretty nonetheless. Definitely Instagram-able (^_^).
