I’m 100% a summer kind of girl, so making a summer playlist to listen to while on the beach or in the car (or at my desk) was definitely in order. The sunny days have been few and far in between as of late due to the June gloom, so I’ve gravitated to songs that are a bit on the melancholy side - lots of acoustic guitar and piano, a healthy amount of Lo-Fi, and some surf rock. I hope you enjoy this playlist! Listen to it below or here on Spotify.
I Love You So - The Walters Everything about this song just feels like summer love that you’re sad to have to let go once the season is over.
June Gloom. - Prime
Peach Pit - Peach Pit I have no idea how I have never heard this song until this year, but it’s constantly on repeat for me when the beach weather is on the gloomy side.
Summer Rain - [ocean jams]
summer nights. - halberd, Nion
Hang Me Up To Dry - Cold War Kids
Forever Lotus - RŮDE
Cherry Pie Jam - Hollow Clouds
rolling down this lazy wave - santpoort
the great ocean road - santpoort
Sunset Lover - Petit Biscuit One of those songs that you can’t really sing along to due to the lyrics being synthesized samples (I’m assuming), but you still try to anyway.
2031 - Inner Wave
Blueside - Rooney
Kids - MGMT If “school’s out for the summer” was a theme song.
Heartbreaker - MSTRKRFT, John Legend
These Days - Wallows
West Coast - Lana Del Rey I feel like no millennial California summer playlist is complete without at least one Lana Del Rey song.
Close Your Eyes and Count to Ten - Grouplove
Clear Skies - Xfruge
Palm Trees - Handm’de, Aneesh
Hawaiian Boi - Triathalon
Voyage - Leavv
Isla Del Sol - Henyao I ALWAYS use this song for my YouTube videos. The vocals are kind of funky, but I’m into it.
