My husband and I have never really been big on celebrating Valentine’s Day, but I received a V-Day PR gift from Kodak in the form of a pink camera and couldn’t help but test it out. The Kodak SMILE+ Digital Instant Print Camera works similarly to my instant film AND digital camera in the sense that you get instant print photo copies as well as digital copies.
The camera is rechargeable with the included USB Type-C charging cable (so no batteries) and stores files via a Micro SD card (not included). It’s set up to print after every photo taken (once loaded with Kodak Zink Premium Photo Paper), so you get the same satisfaction of an instant film camera photo print as well as a digital file to share. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this camera, but I personally love having both the print and the file as I’ve been scanning my instant film photos lately for archival purposes. This was just a quick test, so I’d like to see what other capabilities this camera has (i.e., if I’m able to use this strictly as a digital camera once I run out of photo paper, testing the three different lens filters as I only used the retro filter, printing from this camera via their app), but I’m so happy with how the photos turned out!
I think I may prefer the digital files over the photo prints as there seems to be a slight difference in the color saturation and highlights, but I want to test this out a bit more before I decide whether or not I’ll be adding this to my everyday camera bag. If you love the idea of an instant print/digital camera hybrid, I’d say that the Kodak SMILE+ Camera is definitely worth checking out.
