Summer doesn't seem like it's going anywhere any time soon, so cropped tops and high-waisted shorts have been my season musts. I'm a big fan of black when it comes to everyday wear, but sometimes the heat is much too strong to indulge in my dark clothes addiction.
When I picked up this flowy top with bell sleeves (totally 70's, don't you think?), I was immediately into the color - a reddish-orangey burnt sienna type of hue - and the lace-up and open crochet details certainly don't hurt either.
While I'd usually go for a pair of black shorts, orangey colors with black just seem too Halloween for me, so I went for a pair of standard Levi's cutoffs that I scored at the Melrose Trading Post not too long ago.
My accessories are almost always silver (if you haven't noticed). For some reason, I'm just not a fan of gold jewelry. I know there are certain "rules" for what colors work best for certain skin tones, but since when do I ever follow the rules? Silver jewelry pieces are just my jam and I'm stickin' to it.
When I do decide to wear a bit of color, I always like to match (or attempt to match, at least) my bag to my shoes. I've been far too obsessed with this fringe bag from Cleobella, so I grabbed the only shoes that remotely matched the color - these heeled sandals by Baretraps.
At this point, the outfit felt entirely 70's, so I went with the vibe and topped it off with circle sunglasses. Casual & cute, I wore this out while hunting for Pokemon with my fiancรฉ after a chill dinner at The Lab in Costa Mesa (yes, I gave in and now I'm completely obsessed with Pokemon GO). If you follow my Instagram Stories, you probably saw a bit of that! And what you didn't see, was after taking photos, we stood in the parking lot for an hour trying to take over a Pokemon gym.
Embarrassing? Maybe a little. Fun? Hell yeah.
xx Audrie
